Legal issues involving human rights often arise in the workplace, whether in the context of accommodating an employee with a disability or dealing with a complaint of sexual harassment.
Our lawyers have a thorough understanding of human rights law and the rights and obligations of employees and employers in this area. We work with employers to develop strategies to handle human rights issues and to prevent potential human rights complaints before they arise. We also have experience representing both employers and employees before the Human Rights Tribunal.
Our lawyers provide services such as developing employer policies, advising on all aspects of the Human Rights Code, handling accommodations and terminations, and conducting seminars and training sessions for employees, supervisors and managers on human rights issues in the workplace. We also have significant experience mediating disputes and representing clients before the Canada and British Columbia Human Rights tribunals. In addition, our lawyers have experience conducting effective workplace investigations into Human Rights complaints.
